Water-based HVAC systems heat and cool buildings by circulating water through a closed pipework network. During this process, air bubbles and dirt particles can enter the system. This can reduce performance and cause components to wear out more quickly.
Royal Dinxperlo manufactures high-quality welded metal mesh for air and dirt separators. The open mesh structure facilitates the separation of air and dirt, whilst allowing water to continue flowing through the system. In this way, the mesh contributes to the stable and energy-efficient operation of HVAC systems.

Air and dirt can significantly reduce the performance of water-based HVAC systems. Air bubbles, for example, can cause flow noise, corrosion and reduced heat transfer. In addition, dirt particles can accumulate in pumps, valves and heat exchangers.
This reduces the system’s efficiency and may increase energy consumption. Furthermore, components may wear out more quickly or become blocked. An air and dirt separator must therefore effectively remove these undesirable particles without unnecessarily restricting the water flow.
Within an air and dirt separator, welded metal mesh forms an important contact surface. As the system water flows past the metal wires, small air bubbles and dirt particles can accumulate. The separator then discharges the air and dirt from the system.
At the same time, the open structure ensures that the water can continue to flow through the separator. A consistent mesh size, stable mesh construction and precise dimensions are therefore essential. In this way, the wire mesh supports effective separation and the reliable operation of the HVAC system.
Air and dirt separators require mesh that retains its shape during processing and use. In welded mesh, the wires are joined together at every intersection. This creates a stable and dimensionally stable mesh structure.
Furthermore, the manufacturer can roll up the mesh and install it as a cylindrical inner lining within the separator. In doing so, the welded mesh retains its mesh structure and strength. Royal Dinxperlo manufactures this mesh from materials including AISI 304 stainless steel. Other materials and customised designs are also available on request.
Royal Dinxperlo has over a century of experience in the production of woven and welded wire mesh. For manufacturers of air and dirt separators, we supply welded mesh that is tailored to the design, the required water flow rate and further processing.
