Paper-moulded mesh forms an important part of moulds for paper pulp products. Examples include egg cartons, fruit trays and protective packaging. As these products come in a variety of shapes, the woven mesh must be able to be precisely adapted to the contours of each mould.
Royal Dinxperlo not only manufactures the woven mesh, but can also anneal, die-cut and press it into the desired three-dimensional shapes. This results in a bespoke mesh component that precisely matches the shape and dimensions of the mould.
Woven mesh retains residual stress after the production process. If the material is pressed into a complex shape without the correct preparation, the mesh may deform, spring back or lose its desired mesh structure in certain areas. This can affect the fit of the mesh and, consequently, the performance of the final mould.
Paper-moulded mesh therefore requires a careful combination of material selection, annealing treatment and moulding technique. The mesh must be flexible enough to follow complex contours, whilst the mesh openings must remain as uniform as possible.

Before Royal Dinxperlo forms the paper-moulded mesh, we can anneal the woven mesh in-house. During this treatment, the stresses in the weave are reduced. This gives the mesh highly deformable properties.
After annealing, we can process the mesh more easily by moulding an pressing. Furthermore, the material conforms better to the three-dimensional shape of the mould. This enables us to produce deeper, rounder and more complex shapes with precision.
After annealing, we can die-cut the mesh and then press it into a customer-specific 3D shape. Royal Dinxperlo has extensive experience in processing woven mesh into precisely shaped components. This enables us to produce both simple and complex shapes.
In addition, we develop and maintain the necessary tools in-house. This allows us to retain maximum control over the moulding process. Furthermore, we can closely monitor the dimensions and quality during every production run. This is particularly important for repeat production runs, as every moulded mesh component must fit into the suction mould in exactly the same way.
Manufacturers use moulded paper mesh in forming moulds for a wide range of products made from recycled or virgin paper pulp. The mesh is suitable, for example, for:
Egg boxes and egg trays.

Protective packaging components.

The specific application ultimately determines which shape and design are most suitable. That is why we tailor the moulded mesh to both the mould construction and the requirements of the production process.
Royal Dinxperlo produces paper moulded mesh in various designs. For example, the mesh is available in AISI 304(L) and AISI 316(L) stainless steel. In addition, we can fully customise the product to the desired shape and application.
Depending on the product specifications, we adjust factors such as the wire diameter, mesh size, dimensions and final 3D shape. In doing so, we carefully coordinate the weaving, annealing, punching and forming processes. This results in a single, complete bespoke solution that fits the suction mould precisely.
