Precision bending and edge finnishing of woven mesh

During the bending process, we position the mesh at a predetermined point in the bending press. We then bend the material in a controlled manner to the desired angle. This enables us to produce both simple angles and more complex shapes.

Royal Dinxperlo has an extensive range of machinery and in-depth knowledge of woven and welded mesh. This enables us to bend mesh products with precision whilst maintaining their strength and functionality as effectively as possible.

Furthermore, we carefully control the bending process. This enables us to produce identical components with consistent dimensions. This is particularly important for recurring production runs, as each mesh component must fit precisely into the same filter assembly every time.

Applications in drinking water treatment

Manufacturers use folded metal mesh for various components within drinking water and water treatment plants. The mesh is suitable, for example, for:

  • Filter elements for drinking water systems.
  • Mesh components for pre-filtration.
  • Filters for surface water intake.
  • Filter components for industrial process water.
  • Screen components for sludge, sand and solids.
  • Folded mesh inserts for frames and housings.
  • Multiple layers of mesh to support filtration systems.
  • Customised components for water treatment.

The installation and function within the filtration process ultimately determine the required shape. That is why we tailor the folded mesh component to both the technical requirements and the available space within the installation.

From filter mesh to complete component

Depending on the application, the folded part may form part of a more extensive production process. For example, we can first cut, die-cut or punch the mesh to size. We then fold the material into the desired shape. After that, if necessary, we can weld the mesh or assemble it with other components.

Royal Dinxperlo supplies both mesh on rolls and complete filter components and engineered parts for drinking water treatment. As we carry out the weaving and further processing ourselves, we can carefully coordinate the various production stages. This results in a complete bespoke solution that fits the filtration plant precisely.

Custom-made folded filter mesh

Drinking water and water treatment plants place a wide range of demands on their filter components. That is why, when developing a folded mesh component, we take the following factors into account, amongst others:

  • The desired shape and external dimensions.
  • The bend angle and position of the folded edges.
  • The mesh aperture and wire diameter.
  • The type of material.
  • The required filtration fineness.
  • The desired flow capacity.
  • The connection to the frame or housing.
  • Any additional processing required.

For water treatment, Royal Dinxperlo manufactures, amongst other things, woven mesh made from AISI 304(L), AISI 316(L), Duplex and Super Duplex. Other materials are also available on request. The conditions within the filtration process determine which alloy is most suitable. We therefore tailor the choice of material to factors such as water quality, corrosion exposure and the technical requirements of the installation.
