Within drinking water treatment plants, woven metal mesh is used for filtering and pre-filtering water. Before the mesh can be fitted into a plant, it often needs to be further processed into a component with the correct shape and dimensions.
Royal Dinxperlo can precisely bend woven and welded mesh. This involves bending flat mesh along predetermined lines to create sharp corners and customer-specific shapes. In this way, the filter mesh can be processed into a dimensionally stable component that fits onto a frame, housing or filter system.
Metal mesh has an open structure that behaves differently during bending than a solid metal sheet. The wires must be deformed in a controlled manner, without unnecessarily damaging the mesh structure or compromising its functional properties.
For drinking water applications, a precise fit and consistent quality are of the utmost importance. The bent mesh component must fit the other components whilst retaining its filtering function. An incorrect bending angle or dimension can complicate assembly and affect the fit within the filter system.
Therefore, the folding technique and settings used must be tailored to the material, the wire diameter, the mesh size and the desired shape.

During the bending process, we position the mesh at a predetermined point in the bending press. We then bend the material in a controlled manner to the desired angle. This enables us to produce both simple angles and more complex shapes.

Depending on the application, the folded part may form part of a more extensive production process. For example, we can first cut, die-cut or punch the mesh to size. We then fold the material into the desired shape. After that, if necessary, we can weld the mesh or assemble it with other components.
